The #BlackGirlJoyChallenge launches on International Day of the Girl and aims to spread JOY to promote the mental, social, emotional, and holistic well-being of Black girls and gender-expansive youth in the South .Application submission begins with October 11th to October 25th, 2023.

The #BlackGirlJoyChallenge was created by Southern Black Girls to introduce the concept of JOY as an important component of young girls’ mental health and self-care. Entrants must describe their idea for spreading joy in their community to win a prize. Once the submission period closes, applications will be reviewed and winners will be selected by a committee of Southern Black Girl Youth Ambassadors and Wisdom Council based on project ideas that spread creative joy. If selected, the challenge winner will receive a microgrant to complete the JOY project.
