Organization That Gives Travel Experiences To Black Women With Breast

Three years after its founding in 2020, Fight Through Flight’s co-founders have provided free travel and wellness experiences to more than 150 Black women diagnosed with breast cancer.

Co-founders Alicia Tambe and Esther Tambe are sisters who serve women in 25 states, have launched five travel and wellness programs for breast cancer survivors, and support more than 75 organizations and businesses around the world. We have partnered with.

It is personal, which is why the sisters cannot take it lightly. They lost their sister and cousin to stage 4 breast cancer.

“It really upset our family,” the sisters told Travel Noire. “It also opened my eyes to the silent killers in our community. We didn’t realize how much breast cancer affected Black women.”

A mission to serve black women

The mission of this nonprofit organization is to support healing for Black women with breast cancer, breast cancer survivors, and their families who support them. Because breast cancer affects Black women differently.

One in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer, but African American women have a 40% higher mortality rate than white women. According to Fight Through Flight statistics, African American women are three times more likely to develop triple-negative breast cancer, one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer. African American women reportedly have the lowest survival rates of all racial and ethnic groups at every stage of diagnosis.

Despite the odds against Black women, the Tambe family created a safe space for Black women to fight and heal. They have her 5 core programs. “Room to Breathe” will cover the cost of her one night’s stay at a hotel anywhere in the United States for instant rest, relaxation, and reflection. The Leadership Retreat provides a safe space for Black women leaders in the breast cancer community to collaborate and share ideas while traveling and relaxing.

“Road Trip to Recovery” offers two- to three-day solo retreats that can optionally include five virtual nutrition, therapy, and personal training sessions. ‘Staycation Serenity’ is a curated selection of at-home relaxation experiences with five virtual nutrition, therapy and private training session options. The final program, “Road Trip to Recovery 2.0,” allows women to travel and wellness experiences across the continental United States in their 28-foot RV.

“Health is a very big part of treatment,” the sisters tell Travel Noire. “You have to be in the right mind and spirit to fight.”

As the 3rd anniversary approaches, the girlsself care series“During October. The Tambes said they know October, known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, can bring mixed emotions for survivors and those undergoing treatment.

“There are many moments of joy and happiness, but there are also moments of anxiety and fatigue,” they explain.

By offering a spa and wellness path where you can take a break from necessary but stimulating reminders and take self-care with your partner, we help women recover and decompress through the good and bad times of October. We have a self-care program in place to help you.
