“fight Through Flight” Introduces Sisters Fighting Cancer
Flights, sisters, and the fight against breast cancer

Sisters, Alicia and Esther Tambe are changing the lives of black women in America with their nonprofit organization, Fight Through Flight.

Sisters Alicia and Esther Tambe are changing the lives of black women in America with their nonprofit organization, Fight Through Flight. This project helps Black women diagnosed with breast cancer travel around the world with their loved ones on a journey of healing.

According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, black women are 40% more likely to die than white women, and the rate of death has increased rapidly in recent years.

And it doesn’t start and end with diagnosis and treatment. Sister Tambe, who lost her sister Maria and cousin to the disease, knows this reality all too well. “It really upset our family,” she said. “It also opened my eyes to the silent killers in our community. We didn’t realize how much breast cancer affected Black women.”

People who suffer from breast cancer often have an impaired lifestyle, limiting their ability to live to their fullest. This reality and their personal experiences led the Tambe sisters to find Fight Through Flight.

“Traveling the world helped our family create memories together, but it also provided the support Maria needed when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, adds Tambe. Travel has helped us cope, recharge, and just cherish life as we know it. We hope these free retreats and travel experiences help our Black sisters regain a part of themselves that has been stripped away.”

Since its launch in 2020, Fight Through Flight has impacted 25 states and partnered with more than 75 organizations and businesses around the world. And we have no intention of slowing down.

Fight Through Flight offers several programs designed to support Black women on their emotional journeys. They offer wellness passes so that participants can relieve stress and recover with peace of mind. “Health is a very big part of treatment,” they told Travel Noire. “You have to be in the right mind and spirit to fight.”

If a woman feels stress in her daily life, she can run away for the night.  Introduced a Room to Breeze program that allows women to stay free of charge at a hotel of their choice. Her third program, A Family Affair: Leadership Retreat, is a special opportunity for Black women to lead breast cancer organizations and achieve their next goals. Bring together and share existing ideas.

Also, they offer solo trips for 2-3 days. It is available in hotels, cabins, and even rental homes, and access to Black medical professionals such as registered dieticians, therapists, and personal trainers is also limited. Despite traveling alone, participants can choose to bring a companion or carer with them if they wish.

Finally, the battle through flight offers the Staycation Serenity package. Luxury can come to those who don’t want to leave the comfort of their homes. Participants can curate your own fine dining experience. You can stay at home or relax with a painting session.

Fight Through Flight is expanding as well. A new program called “Road Trip to Recovery 2.0” allows women to travel around the United States in the organization’s 28-foot RV while enjoying a wellness and travel experience. Through all of our services, the Tambe Sisters aim to provide life-changing and healing experiences.
