Black Girl Holiday: Time To Prioritize The Health Of Black

Today is black girl holiday. October 11th of each year is set aside to encourage Black women to take a Mental Health Day to focus on their mental health.

This movement is dedicated to respecting and valuing the health and well-being of Black girls and women. Although not officially recognized nationally, it is a compelling encouragement to value time for self-care, self-reflection, and community connections.

Black women are known to be at higher risk for heart disease, breast cancer, and other chronic diseases. This is due to many factors, including lifestyle and access to healthcare.

Additionally, create a supportive environment at work by introducing group therapy sessions. Ensure inclusivity and develop opportunities for employees to feel comfortable expressing themselves.

Finally, please help the cause by donating financially or volunteering at a minority mental health center.

And to all Black women: Know that you are seen, heard, and matter. Self-evaluate your work-life balance and find time to devote to yourself. Our lives literally depend on it.
