The #BlackGirlJoyChallenge was created by Southern Black Girls to introduce the concept of JOY as an important component of young girls’ mental health and self-care. This initiative awards small grants to applicants with engaging and creative ideas for spreading joy and positivity within their communities. The #BlackGirlJoyChallenge is open to qualified applicants residing in the Southern 13-state region. Entrants must describe their idea for spreading joy in their community to win a prize. Once the submission period closes, applications will be reviewed and winners will be selected by a committee of Southern Black Girl Youth Ambassadors and Wisdom Council based on project ideas that spread creative joy. If selected, the challenge winner will receive a microgrant to complete the JOY project.
