As 2024 approaches, one of the most common New Year’s goals among Black travelers is to increase their income. Many people have investment-related interests and aspirations, some particularly interested in international real estate, but don’t know where or how to start. It is generally believed that this type of initiative requires a large initial financial investment. But Shero D. Collier, founder of Black Women Invest, says that’s not necessarily the case.
“There are a lot of financing options out there to help you buy overseas,” the Miami native explains. “Take Ghana, for example. The country allows visitors to use their income and American credit score to qualify at local banks. Large sums of money to get started Most people just need some direction and a little hand-holding.”
Other misconceptions that deter foreign investors include the idea that investing abroad is unsafe or too complicated. Collier said that while each country has its own regulations, they usually go to great lengths to protect the interests of foreign buyers.
“This process may require more work than in the United States, but it is by no means impossible,” she says. “There are some resources that can help.”
Collier, who started her company after noticing the lack of representation of Black women at investment-focused conferences, is proud to be one of those resources for the community.
She founded Black Women Invest to empower women of color to take control of their finances and build generational wealth. The company has resources and programs to help women learn about investing, connect with other investors, and grow their portfolios.
Overseas real estate tour
Supported by Collier’s unwavering belief, Because Black women can be great real estate investors, Black Women Invest has begun offering international real estate tours for members to explore investment opportunities in different countries.
“Real estate can be a powerful tool for Black women to achieve financial security and build wealth,” she explains. “Rental properties provide a steady income that increases in value over time. This also helps Black women accumulate wealth that they can inherit and leave a lasting legacy for their families. By introducing more black women to overseas investment opportunities, I will help them spend more money on themselves and retire comfortably with the financial freedom they deserve. I believe it is possible.”
Tours are a great way to learn about different markets, meet local experts, and network with other investors. Collier and her team do all the planning and help travelers obtain the necessary visas and documents for international travel. Great care is taken to guide members throughout the process and connect them with knowledgeable and experienced agents and attorneys when necessary.
Explore opportunities around the world
“Our 2022 real estate trip to Ghana was such a success that we have expanded it to include additional destinations that align with our commitment to promoting safe and prosperous opportunities for Black people,” Collier said. Share. “We plan to revisit Ghana in 2024 and visit two new destinations: Bali and Italy.”
If you’re wondering how much initial investment is typically required to invest in overseas real estate, the founders say it depends on a variety of factors, including destination, type of property, and current market conditions.
“In Ghana, we have seen homes ranging from $70,000 for a three-bedroom detached home to $500,000 for a luxury home in a gated community. Prices range from $70,000 for a three-bedroom detached home to $500,000 for a luxury home in a gated community. It also depends on the neighborhood, such as whether they prefer
