5 Black Owned Wellness Retreats – Black Girl Nerd

Self-care is an important component of mental and physical health. This is especially important for Black women because we face unique challenges and stressors in our daily lives. The demands of work, family, and everything else we have may leave us with little time for self-care, but leaning into the things that bring us joy and fulfillment is key. . Wellness is everything we need to heal, feel grounded, feel at peace, and feel centered.

It is time for Black women to make our health and well-being a top priority. When looking for self-care options, nothing is more important than supporting yourself. There are many Black-owned communities that offer beautiful journeys, sisterhood, travel, and support the narrative that Black women have the space to be healthy from the top of their heads to the bottom of their feet. These are her five Black-owned wellness retreats that are ready and waiting with open arms.

Colored Girl IMARA Retreat

With a mission to “Unite, Uplift and Empower,” IMARA is an immersive program designed to help Black women reconnect with their power in cities like Johannesburg, Nairobi, and here in the United States. Provides space for molds. Founder and Creative Director Tori Elizabeth is a former celebrity wardrobe stylist who combines her talents and skills as a public relations and marketing expert to empower women of color. Omnoir Retreats

OMNoire was founded in 2017. Christina Rice, yoga teacher and entrepreneur. She also has a strong background in celebrity marketing and public relations and runs her own agency. Like many of us, she didn’t feel like her life was going well. What started as a simple retreat in Grenada has grown to include destinations such as the Poconos, Barbados, and Ghana. While attending the retreat, travelers can expect to connect with other Black women through activities such as group meditation and friendly conversation. This Social Her Wellness community is dedicated to helping Black women stay healthy from the inside out. Destinations for 2024 include Negril, Portugal, Atlanta, Arizona, Bali, and more.

The Whole Experience Retreat

In 2017, Tameika G and Whitney Gee (Traveling alone We met at a coffee shop in Bali (we were strangers at the time). Through their conversations, they realized they shared the same passion for travel, health, wellness, and women’s empowerment. Once we both decided we wanted to work for ourselves, the rest is history. As a traveling health retreat, the Whole Experience is open to all women and is perfect for Black women looking for a safe haven that puts their health first. The retreats will be held in various countries including Italy, Thailand, Bali and Greece, each offering vegetarian meals and mindfulness seminars. The “Whole Experience” aims to teach participants how to make healthy living sustainable. If you’re looking for black sisterhood and community, this may be the health retreat for you.

If you spend any time on social media, you’re bound to see black women sharing their journeys to Africa. I think many of us have a longing to go there and connect with another part of ourselves. If you’re looking for an active retreat with an expert local guide, this is the one for you. Africa With Us aims to understand, experience and promote the exotic and rich Kukwa fitness practice, which combines African dance, fitness, cultural exploration and community service. Move your body to a variety of African music at this Black-owned wellness retreat. They dance and dine in resorts ranging from Senegal and Gambia to Botswana and South Africa. You can also try different cuisines to enrich your body, participate in community service to enrich your soul, and have great cultural experiences to enrich your soul.

Reisano Living

Leisano Living offers a way to step outside your comfort zone while relaxing, recharging, and restoring your soul through mindfulness and meditation. Owner Lathan Echols I started Leisano Living for very personal reasons. After making a bold exit from her dream job due to burnout in January 2018, she embarked on her six-month wellness adventure across the Caribbean and Southeast Asia. A nutritionist and exercise physiologist who strongly believes in the healing power of her travels, Lathan has created a business that provides Black women with the tools to optimize their well-being and immerses them in new cultures to foster self-discovery. I decided to build it. Her next Mindfulness Retreat will be held in beautiful Saint Lucia in April 2024. Explore nature, food, and music every day. You will return home with a healthy mind and body.

The wellness industry is growing rapidly by the day, but unfortunately it still lacks the diverse representation needed for Black women to understand that they deserve more than a bubble bath and a glass of wine every few nights.
