Happy Juneteenth. While we celebrate 365 degrees of being Black, taking flight, and being excellent, today we wanted to shine a spotlight on Black women designers. Today’s advancements in fashion would not be possible without the contributions of Black women, from stylists and designers to their PR gurus and more. In the world of fashion, there are some hoops that black women have had to jump through to get to where they are today, that they never should have, but that they did so with grace. One of the many things that Black women understand well is lifting each other up, and in doing so, she says, her community is not just a number or a diversity quota, but a platform for racism. It has grown into a safer place to express and shout out obvious issues. and sexism and in-between doctrine. With the 15 Percent Pledge and Black CFDA finalists being mentored by the Black in Fashion Council, we are starting to see real change towards real progress.

While the ESSENCE team works hard to send flowers to black women and be a place of comfort and vulnerability for black women around the world, we are also always looking for ways to uplift black women. Masu. To support them, the ESSENCE team has rounded up all of their favorite Black woman-owned brands. These brands embody the elegance, gentleness, vibrancy, and confidence inherent in black women.
